Contemporary, Modern Wedding Cakes
A collection of frequently asked questions about bespoke wedding cakes, from design and flavours to delivery and the process of working together. If there’s anything else you’d like to ask, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
Each cake is designed individually, so pricing varies depending on size, design and level of detail.
You can find a starting guide on the pricing page, and I’ll provide a tailored quotation once I understand your plans.
I recommend securing your date as early as possible, particularly for peak wedding months, as I take on a limited number of cakes each week. That said, if your date is sooner, you’re always welcome to enquire — I’ll let you know if I can accommodate it.
Yes, I intentionally take on a limited number of wedding cakes to ensure each one receives the time, focus and level of detail it deserves.
This allows me to approach every design with care and creativity, rather than working at volume.
Most couples come to me with a feeling rather than a finished idea. They know they want a cake, but not sure where to start.
I will guide you through the design process, drawing on your venue, styling and overall atmosphere to create something that feels considered and completely personal to you.
A booking fee is usually required to secure your date – earlier for peak dates. Once we have completed the consultation, the payments are split with the remaining balance scheduled 4 weeks before your wedding day.
I will guide you through everything clearly, so you always know what to expect at each step.
Let’s break this down. It all hinges on when you will be serving your cake. As part of your wedding breakfast dessert, I would recommend catering for all your daytime guests with slightly larger portions. But if served as part of your reception with teas and coffees, I would suggest smaller portions and to cater for only 75-80% of your guests – as not everyone will choose to have cake.
As a guide, portions are based on a standard finger slice, although this can vary depending on the height and design of each tier. I take all of this into account when calculating the overall size, ensuring it feels balanced both visually and practically.
These are thoughtful guidelines rather than fixed rules — if you’d like additional portions or prefer to keep some aside to enjoy after the day, this can always be factored in.
Yes, when the design warrants it. Some designs are complex and intricate, created over a period of time. So to serve the freshest cake, I supply cutting cakes. Don’t worry – you still get that all important cake cutting moment – with real cake!
Dummy cakes require the same love and level of attention as a real cake – We can discuss this further at the consultation stage.
Absolutely. This is often a thoughtful approach, particularly for more intricate designs or larger guest numbers. It allows for a beautifully proportioned display cake, with additional portions ready to serve in the same colour as your cake.
I offer a selection of signature flavours alongside a rotating range of seasonal options. If you’re looking for something more personal, I’m always happy to explore flavour combinations with you.
You can check out my signature flavours on the flavours page
Yes, I can accommodate a range of dietary requirements, including vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options. Please note that as all cakes are made in the same kitchen, I’ll always be clear about what is possible and advise accordingly.
Book in your consultation and we can discuss this in more depth.
Consultations are available either in person at my home or via Zoom. This is where we’ll begin shaping your ideas, talk through the details and start to bring your cake design together.
For sure! Tasting boxes are available and can either be enjoyed during an in-person consultation or posted out to you. They’re a lovely way to experience the flavours and start refining your choices.
Yes, I personally handle delivery and on-site setup to ensure everything is finished exactly as intended. I’ll also coordinate with your venue or your planner, so it’s one less thing for you to think about.
Based in Northampton, I deliver wedding cakes to all the surrounding areas and beyond.
Your cake is best kept at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and enjoyed within a couple of days. I’ll provide guidance on cutting and storing any remaining portions so everything stays as fresh as possible.
