WEDDING CAKE TERMS AND CONDITIONS | Silverleaf Cake Company
These wedding cake terms and conditions apply to all orders placed with Silverleaf Cake Company, including bespoke wedding cakes, celebration cakes, and webshop purchases.
By placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these wedding cake terms and conditions in full. No contract is formed until a booking fee or full payment (for webshop orders) has been received.

Wedding Cake Pricing & Quotations Terms
All quotations are valid for 14 days from the date of issue. Quotes are estimates until design and details are confirmed in writing.
Prices are based on design, size, and specification. Any changes may result in revised pricing.
Silverleaf Cake Company reserves the right to adjust pricing due to external factors including ingredient costs or design changes.
All goods remain the property of Silverleaf Cake Company until paid in full.
Payment Terms for Wedding Cakes
A non-refundable booking fee (forming part of the total cost) is required to secure your date. No dates are held without payment.
Once your quotation and design have been agreed, a 50% deposit is required to secure your booking
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 4 weeks prior to delivery or collection.
Failure to pay by the due date may result in cancellation, forfeiture of all payments made, and release of your booking date.
Payments may be made via bank transfer or secure third-party providers such as Stripe. No card details are stored.
Late Payments – Wedding Cake Order Terms
In the event of late or non-payment, work will not proceed.
Any continuation of the order is at the sole discretion of Silverleaf Cake Company and subject to availability. Completion by the agreed date is not guaranteed.
Wedding Cake Design & Creative Control
All cakes are bespoke, handmade and created in Silverleaf Cake Company’s signature style.
Reference images and sketches are used as guidance only. Exact replication is not undertaken. Variations in colour, texture, and finish may occur.
We will always work to your agreed design, but artistic interpretation remains part of the process.
Final design decisions remain at the discretion of Silverleaf Cake Company to ensure structural integrity and design quality.
Allergen Information & Ingredients
All products are made in an environment where allergens, including nuts, gluten, dairy, and eggs, are present.
While alternative dietary options are offered – Gluten-free, Dairy-Free, Eggless and Vegan, 100% allergen-free environments cannot be guaranteed.
It is the client’s responsibility to inform us of any allergies at the time of booking, and to inform their guests of any risks.
Silverleaf Cake Company will always provide a full ingredients list as per Natasha’s Law.
Cake Storage & Freshness Guidelines
All cakes are freshly made with no preservatives.
- Celebration cakes: best consumed within 3–4 days
- Postal bakes: consume within 5 days
Store in a cool, dry place (not refrigerated), or freeze on the day of delivery for up to 3 months.
We are not responsible for issues arising from incorrect storage.
Delivery & Collection Terms
Collection of orders must take place at a pre-arranged time. Silverleaf Cake Company will not be liable for any issues arising from failure to collect at the agreed time.
Once the cake leaves our premises, responsibility transfers to the client.
Cakes must be transported on a flat surface (passenger footwell or boot). Not on seats or laps.
Delivery will be made to the address agreed on your order confirmation. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure all delivery details are accurate.
If delivery cannot be completed due to incorrect information, restricted access, or no responsible person being available to receive the cake, the cake will be returned and held for a maximum of 24 hours.
Redelivery is not guaranteed and may incur additional charges.
Wedding Cake Delivery & Venue Setup
Where delivery and setup are included, we will liaise with the venue where possible.
Once delivered and set up, responsibility transfers to the client and/or venue.
We will take photos of the cake in-situ.
If the cake is moved, altered, or interfered with by the venue, guests, or third parties, Silverleaf Cake Company accepts no liability for any resulting damage.
Where set-up is not carried out by Silverleaf Cake Company, full responsibility for transport, handling, and assembly rests with the client.
Venue Conditions
Silverleaf Cake Company is not liable for damage or deterioration of the cake caused by environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, heat, humidity, direct sunlight, unstable surfaces, or unsuitable display areas.
It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that the venue provides a suitable environment for the cake.
Fresh Flowers & Cake Safety
Not all fresh flowers are suitable for cake decoration.
Where fresh flowers are provided by your own florist, you are responsible for confirming with your florist that the flowers used are non-toxic and safe for use with food
We are not liable for contamination or safety issues arising from:
- Toxic flowers
- Incorrect preparation
- Third-party handling
Where possible, we would aim to liaise directly with your florist to ensure:
- Correct sizing
- Placement planning
- Design alignment
If flowers are added after delivery by another party, we accept no liability for damage or contamination.
Sugar flowers are decorative and may contain wires; they are not recommended for consumption.
Non-Edible Elements
Cakes may contain internal supports and decorative elements including Dowels / Wires / Flower picks / Ribbons. These must be removed before serving.
You will be advised of these at delivery or collection.
Product Variations & Substitutions
From time to time, ingredients or materials may become unavailable.
In such cases, we reserve the right to substitute with equal or higher quality alternatives without prior consultation.
All products are made in an artisan environment, and slight variations are to be expected.
Cancellations & Wedding Cake Terms
All cancellations must be made in writing. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted.
Wedding cakes:
- More than 90 days: booking fee retained
- 2–3 months: 50% payable
- Less than 2 months: full balance payable
Celebration cakes:
- More than 1 month: booking fee retained
- Less than 1 month: full balance payable
Once work has commenced, all payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Change of Date Policy
If you request a change of date, Silverleaf Cake Company will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the new date. However, this is not guaranteed and is subject to availability.
If the new requested date is unavailable, the original booking will be treated as a cancellation and no refund of the booking fee or any monies paid will be issued.
Where a change of date is agreed, Silverleaf Cake Company reserves the right to revise pricing to reflect any changes in cost or design.
Webshop Terms (Postal Products)
Product Nature
All webshop items are handmade and may vary slightly in appearance, size, and finish.
We are not liable for dissatisfaction regarding the interpretation of product images.
Pricing & Payment
Website prices are subject to change without notice
Orders are only confirmed once payment is received
Postal orders are dispatched via Royal Mail First Class or Tracked 24
Estimated delivery: 1–2 days (not guaranteed)
We are not liable for delays caused by postal services.
Correct address details are the responsibility of the customer.
Once dispatched, responsibility passes to the customer. Silverleaf Cake Company is not liable for delays, damage, or loss caused by the courier.
Cancellation
Orders cannot be cancelled once baked.
If production has not started, cancellation may be considered at our discretion.
Non-Delivery
Any issues must be reported within 7 days of the dispatch date.
We will then open an enquiry with Royal Mail
Our liability is limited to replacement or refund up to the amount paid.
Complaints
Any concerns or issues must be raised immediately upon delivery or collection.
- Decoration issues must be raised at delivery/collection
- Quality concerns must be reported within 24 hours, with the entire product (less 20%) returned for assessment
Refunds or compensation are only considered where:
- The product is returned
- A genuine fault is identified
We will aim to rectify any issues where possible.
Silverleaf Cake Company’s liability is limited to the value of the product. Refunds or replacements are issued at the discretion of Silverleaf Cake Company.
Both parties agree to act in good faith and allow the opportunity to resolve any issue before publishing negative public reviews.
Liability
We will:
- Provide services with reasonable care and skill
- Ensure products meet UK food safety standards
We are not liable for:
- Damage after delivery/collection
- Indirect or consequential losses (e.g. emotional distress, loss of enjoyment)
Our total liability is limited to the value of your order.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Force Majeure
In circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, fire, flood, illness, or supply chain disruption, Silverleaf Cake Company reserves the right to cancel or amend an order.
In such cases, we will aim to offer alternative solutions where possible.
Intellectual Property
All designs and images remain the property of Silverleaf Cake Company.
We reserve the right to use images for marketing purposes.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If any part of this agreement is deemed invalid, the remaining terms remain enforceable
